When I was younger I used to hate working out - probably because I always viewed it as a chore since I have always been naturally thin. Along with not working out, I used my fast metabolism as an excuse to eat whatever the hell I wanted. Now, I still have a severe addiction to sugar which I need to cut down - But I try to limit my amount of refined sugars and consume natural sugars such as maple syrup, honey, and sugar from fruit instead.

Fast forward a couple years and my friends will tell you that i've become a fitness and nutrition addict. Every week I box, do weight training, and if i'm really busy i'll just squeeze in a circuit exercise at home. Along with finding my love for fitness, I have also learned a lot about nutrition and how important it is to keep your body healthy. I truly believe that what you eat and what you put in your body has an immense effect on not only how you look and feel but also preventing sickness and disease. I try to live by Hippocrates' quote 'Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food".

Now, if you're super busy and always on the go like I am, juicing is a great alternative to shovelling down a salad or fruit bowl if you are pressed for time! I always try to bring a juice or two to my shoots so that I stay hydrated and get a kick of nutrients throughout the day.

If you're in Toronto, check out ELXR's selection of locally made/grown, organic juices - my favourite flavour is 'Tropic Tonic' :)
