We about to get mad personal up in here (up in here - sorry i couldn't resist a little DMX)...Although some of you may read this post and see it as HELLA sappy, I feel the need to share this with anyone who is still reading, in the hopes that someone may be able to take something good away from this!

Just over a year ago I battled a brief stint of insecurity where I just felt like shit (for a lack of a better word)...As most of you know I bleached my naturally brunette hair white last summer, which caused a lot of damage and resulted in me having to cut it up to my ears (it wasn't cute). My skin started to get bad from being stressed about my hair, and as a result I never wanted to go out or do anything with my friends because I hated the way I looked...Oh and on-top of all of that I had just gotten dumped...So, needless to say my ego was SHOT.

Growing up, I never ever had insecurity problems, so i didn't know how to handle them as an adult. After a couple months of hiding out in my loft and binge watching Netflix (No seriously...I watched the entire series of The Walking Dead AND Weeds - Both good shows if you want Netflix recommendations) I realized that the vibrant young girl that I used to be was gone, and I wanted her back.

Now let me just say that we've ALL had shitty things happen to us throughout our lives, each person is constantly fighting their own battle, but I do not believe that that is an excuse for you to go around plaguing the world with your misery. I definitely didn't have the most ideal life growing up (I mean who really did), but as a child, I never focused on the losses and the things that I didn't have, instead I focused on all of the things that I HAD.

I realized that that is what I needed to do to get myself out of the funk that I was in.

As humans we get way too caught up focusing on what we don't have, whether it be the latest hyped sneaker drop, the latest 'it' bag, a boyfriend, a car...ect. Someone will always have it 'worse' than you, and someone will always have it seemingly 'better' than you. So instead of focusing on what you don't have, start focusing and being thankful for all the amazing things you DO have in your life, no matter how small. Seriously, sit down and start writing a list right now of all the things you have in your life that you are thankful for, you may even surprise yourself when you realize how long that list actually is! I promise you once you start focusing on the positive, you will bring MORE positive things into your life!

I know this may sound super dorky, but seriously, I don't even care...Every morning when I wake up I mentally list off all of the things in my life that I have that I am thankful for, and list all of the things that I want. My life has completely changed by focusing only on the positives in situations instead of the negatives, and to be honest I've never been happier than I am now.

Now my life is constantly *GOOD VIBES ONLY* and I hope yours is too!
