Unfortunately I was not always blessed with great skin and I struggled for years with trying to find the right cleaners, toners, moisturizers, and spot treatments, but nothing seemed to ever fully work. Although I am a strong believer that your diet plays a large role in the condition of your skin, I am also a big advocate of sticking to an all natural skin care regimen.

These are my go to products - Let me know if you guys know any MUST HAVE natural skin products, I'm always looking to try something new!

STE. ANNE'S GEL CLEANSER (morning/night)

Ste. Anne's skin products are all made in Canada, are synthetic free, and are made of 100% pure botanicals which are locally grown in Ontario. Their gel cleanser contains pink grapefruit which acts as a mild astringent to help clean and purify your skin. The cleanser is great because unlike a lot of chemical cleansers it doesn't leave your skin feeling tight after use.

The 'Clarify' serum contains botanicals which help 'clear and release impurities that are clogging the skin'. I use the serum every night after washing my face with the gel cleanser.

This everyday moisturizer is perfect because it is light enough to wear underneath your make up during the day. I ABSOLUUUUTELY ADORE (yes that was a completely irrelevant 'It Takes Two' reference - sorry I couldn't help it) the rose and geranium floral waters in this day cream as they contain healing compounds which soothe any unwanted redness in my skin.

For WHATEVER reason (whether it be my awful habit of over salting all of my food or not getting enough sleep) I seem to always wake up with the PUFFIEST eyes... Because I don't wake up early enough to hold cold spoons under my eyes every morning for 20 minutes, I have had to look to alternative solutions. Origin's GinZing eye cream INSTANTLY brightens dark circles and makes my unfortunate puffiness disappear within the blink of an eye!

Ok I know what you're thinking, 'the only thing that vinegar should be paired with is a basket of french fries' - but I SWEAR that apple cider vinegar is a miracle cure when it comes to pimples! After doing numerous Google searches, I learned that our skin is naturally acidic. The natural acid protects our skin from dirt and bacteria and when we slather our faces with chemical soaps and creams, that natural acidity becomes disturbed, and therefore our skin becomes irritated. Dabbing a cotton ball with a small amount of apple cider vinegar on a pimple restores the natural acidity to your irritated spot and kills the bacteria leaving you spot free within no time!

So for all of you who don't already know, I am a self-professed coconut oil ADDICT! I have one jar in my kitchen and one jar permanently in my bathroom. The amount of health and beauty benefits are INSANE and never ending, but for the purpose of this post I will focus solely on it's skin benefits. Coconut oil contains saturated fats and vitamin E which soothe and hydrate skin, it also contains capric and lauric acid which act as a disinfectant to remove all impurities, and furthermore coconut oil has long been touted as nature's anti-aging miracle. I rub a nickel size amount of coconut oil on my face and neck every night after using my gel cleanser and serum. I know putting oil on your skin is probably a terrifying thought but I PROMISE you nothing but clear radiant skin will ensue.

One night around seven months ago I plopped down on my couch with a jumbo bag of Smartfood and got myself ready for a big night in with my Netflix. Fast forward 5 hours and I had watched two documentaries about the food industry and vegan diets (needless to say my Smartfood ended up in the garbage long before the first doc had even finished). I quickly became fascinated with all of the health benefits that the doctors and naturopaths in the documentaries were claiming could come simply from adopting a vegan diet. Within a week I had watched all of the documentaries on Netflix pertaining to food and the modern food industry, bought 3 books about vegan diets, and done countless Google searches to gather as much information as I could. After multiple conversations with friends and family about what I had learned, I decided to say ADIOS to cheese and AU REVIOR to milk chocolate and restrict myself to a vegan diet for 21 days to see how I felt after (I mean Beyonce and Jay-Z did it, so why not give it a try?)

My 21 day diet quickly turned into a lifestyle as I found my self feeling more energized,  less bloated, and my skin drastically clearing up...Now I'm not here to preach to you all about how EVERYONE should adopt a vegan diet - I am simply saying that this lifestyle change has been amazing for ME.

NOW, onto the food!

Finding vegan restaurant options in Toronto is shockingly easy and I wanted to share my FAVORITE one with you guys!

If you don't know, now you know - LIVE ORGANIC FOOD BAR is a "plant-based, organic, gluten and refined sugar-free" restaurant that both vegans and non vegans will love. The restaurant places a heavy focus on raw food as it is more nutritious and easily digestible, but their menu also features a plethora of cooked options for more picky eaters!

'EASY GREEN' smoothie with a spirulina booster - The 'Easy Green' is a delicious blend of banana, kale, dates, and coconut milk - This is also my favorite smoothie combination to make at home!

'RAW COMBO' - This platter is a combination of all of Live's raw appetizers - the manicotti, pizza, enchiladas, and mezze plate. This is a great option if you are indecisive like me when it comes to choosing what you want to eat.

'MUNG BEAN PANCAKES' - mung bean pancakes topped with Live's signature kimchi and garnished with the most DELICIOUS maple miso glaze I have ever tasted. I am already craving this dish again.

'UBER PROTEIN SALAD' - This is my absolute favorite salad in the entire city of Toronto. The mixed greens are paired with chickpeas, tempeh crutons, cooked quinoa, assorted seeds, cranberries, and goji berries. You have a choice of dressing - I always get the balsamic.

'SUNSHINE WRAP & TACO' - The fact that Live can make a raw taco and wrap as good as these makes me feel like I never need to eat cooked food again! The taco (which has always been one of my favorite items on the menu) contains sunflower 'refried beans', guac, tomato salsa, walnut 'taco meat', greens, and green onion. While the 'Sunshine Wrap' contains sunflower hummus, kale, tomatoes, carrots, avocado, and cucumbers - you all definitely need to try both of these!

I just want to send a big THANK YOU to the owner, Jennifer Italiano and the rest of her team at LIVE for inviting me to come to their restaurant - I had an amazing time and am still full from all of the DELICIOUS & HEALTHY food you fed me!
